Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton expressed outrage after an Orthodox-Jewish newspaper photo-shopped her out of a photo of top officials at the White House, the Associated Press reported on Thursday, citing newly released emails belonging to the former secretary of state.
Clinton sent an email on May 8, 2011, saying she was outraged that the New York-based Yiddish newspaper Der Zeitung airbrushed her and another woman out of a famous photograph of officials gathered in the White House Situation Room watching the raid on notorious Al-Qaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden.
Clinton wrote in the email: “The Jerusalem Post reported today that a NY Hasidic paper Der Zeitung published the sit room photo w/o me (or Audrey T) photoshopped out perhaps because no woman should be in such a place of power or that I am dressed immodestly!!” The subject line of the email was, “Unbelievable”.
The message was sent to Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton, and her aides, including Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin.
The original photo showed Clinton seated at the table along with President Obama, Vice-President Biden and other senior officials. Director for Counterterrorism Audrey Tomason is seen standing in the back of the room. The newspaper published the photo but erased both women, according to the Associated Press.
