A 20-year-old female IDF officer was moderately wounded in a Palestinian shooting attack in Hebron on Sunday afternoon, according to reports in the Hebrew press.
Police say the attack was committed by a sniper who opened fire at a group of Israelis standing in the area of the parking lot near the Cave of the Patriarchs.
The terrorist escaped and a manhunt is underway to apprehend him.
Magen David Adom paramedics who treated the woman soldier at the scene say she sustained bullet wounds to the pelvis. She was evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
The incident comes on the heels of a shooting spree in Tel Aviv on Friday afternoon, which left two Israelis dead and seven others wounded. A massive search for the terrorist, an Arab-Israeli named Nashat Milhem from Wadi Ara, is still being conducted by Israeli security services.
According to Hebrew press reports, the hunt is being carried out predominantly in north Tel Aviv and police are scouring the area without their weapons drawn, so as not to arouse the suspicion of the terrorist and to assuage public panic. Though schools remained open on Sunday, there was a reported 50 percent drop in attendance, as worried parents kept their children at home.
