Entrepreneurs, Investors to Convene in Jerusalem for Major Global High-Tech Summit

A leading Israeli crowdfunding platform is hosting thousands of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from across the world to participate in a Global summit in Jerusalem on Monday.
The summit, focusing on “Investing in the Future,” will be held at the International Convention Center in the capital, where major corporations Honda, Coca Cola, Samsung, Philips, Intuit and GE “will provide a preview of their future plans for innovation together with scores of startup companies in the key areas of mobility/transportation, corporate innovation, health, cyber security, connected world, and mobile communications,” according to OurCrowd, which is hosting the event.
Explaining the impetus for the event, which expects some 3,000 participants, OurCrowd CEO Jon Medved said, “While most eyes are on stock market retreats on Wall Street and global markets, we are proud that we are hosting in Jerusalem a glimpse of a much brighter investor future. Israel’s technology sector is setting new records and continues to boom. We are delighted that we have so many investors joining us to build the next generation of Israeli tech giants.”
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said, “Jerusalem is one of the strongest brands in the world with over 3,000 years of investment and today we are emerging as one of the top hubs for innovation and excellence. OurCrowd is an integral part of Jerusalem’s ecosystem and an important engine for economic growth in the city. We are proud to be participating in this historic event.”
At the end of the conference, OurCrowd — together with Israeli media group Keshet and Bank Hapoalim — will hold a startup competition, the winner of which will receive a $500,000 investment from OurCrowd and a NIS 200,000 prize to be awarded by Bank Hapoalim Chairman Yair Sarousi.
