A man wearing a Jewish prayer shawl during New York Fashion Week caught the attention of Vogue and was featured in a photo spread published by the acclaimed fashion magazine on Saturday, the fashion blog Racked.com first reported.
A Vogue gallery of the “best street style” outside the Fall 2016 men’s collections includes an image of the man wearing the prayer shawl, known as a tallit, outside of a Tommy Hilfiger presentation. The picture, taken by photographer Phil Oh, shows the man draping the shawl over a long black wool coat paired with a black beanie and what appears to be a navy jumpsuit.
New York Fashion Week: Men’s was held Feb. 1-4.
The Jewish prayer shawl made headlines last month when Swedish retailer H&M offered on its website a scarf that resembled a tallit, The Algemeiner previously reported. H&M received mixed reviews regarding the item and apologized to those insulted by the accessory. The international apparel chain eventually removed the item from its website.
