Comments made by the head of the IDF at a conference in Herzliya on Tuesday enhanced Palestinian suspicions that Israel was behind the collapse over the past month of five Gaza-originated tunnels and killing of Hamas operatives inside, the Hebrew news site Walla reported on Wednesday.
Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot said the IDF was using all means at its disposal to neutralize the tunnels, noting that most of the methods it employed were clandestine.
In addition, according to Walla, in an interview with the Palestinian news agency Ma’an last week, Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai – the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories – responded ambiguously to whether or not Israel had a hand in the tunnel collapses. “Only God knows,” he said.
