JNS.org – A 29-year-old Jewish man was injured Friday in Jerusalem’s Old City, near the Dung Gate, in the latest of the Palestinian stabbing attacks against Israelis in recent months.
A 19-year-old Palestinian terrorist from the West Bank escaped at first, but was later detained by Israeli police. The victim was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in stable condition.
“When I arrived on the scene I saw a fellow married student who learns with us in the Torah academy of Shuvu Banim who was stabbed in his upper body,” said Yechiel Stern, a volunteer EMT with the United Hatzalah emergency response organization.
“Aryeh Yards, who is a volunteer with United Hatzalah and a doctor, provided first aid treatment together with other volunteers who live near by, following which the injured person was transferred in an ambulance to hospital,” he said, the Times of Israel reported.
Dr. Bar Nor of Shaare Zedek’s trauma unit said the victim is in “fair condition,” with the wound in his upper back appearing “to be shallow.”
