“Antisemitism is an absolute cancer in our society and we should know when it grows, it is the signal of even worse things happening,” British Prime Minister David Cameron announced during a session at the House of Commons, the Jewish Chronicle reported on Wednesday.
Cameron was addressing the recent reports of a sharp rise in antisemitism in the opposition Labour party – including the suspension of two local councilors – and an investigation into the conduct of many members of the Oxford University Labour Club, as was reported in The Algemeiner earlier this month.
Pointing to Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, Cameron said, “I say to the leader opposite, it’s his party. He should sort it out.”
Cameron was responding to a question put to him by Conservative MP Mike Freer, who had asked whether the prime minister agreed antisemitism should be rooted out from all private and public organizations, according to the JC.
“There is sadly a growth of antisemitism in our country and we see it in terms of attacks on Jewish people and Jewish students,” Cameron said.
