Two residents of East Jerusalem were charged on Monday with planning an ISIS-inspired attack on Israeli security forces in the country’s capital, the Hebrew news site Walla reported.
The Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office filed an indictment against two residents of Jerusalem’s Sur Baher neighborhood – Mu’sab Alian, 23, and Samir Abed Rabo, 38 – on charges of conspiring to aid the enemy in time of war, membership in a terror organization and illegal contact with a foreign agent.
According to the indictment, Alian and Abed Rabo – joined by a third suspect – bought a coffee grinder to process materials needed to make a bomb, and a cellular phone to remotely detonate the device. The three would also meet periodically to discuss other materials needed for the bomb and how to carry out the attack.
According to the indictment, Mu’sab began supporting ISIS in 2014 and deepened his involvement in the group over the course of the next two years, unsuccessfully attempting to join its ranks fighting in Syria. Abed Rabo also studied the group over the internet during the same time period.
