Alan Dershowitz
American lawyer and author
Liberal Zionist Alan Dershowitz remains as active as ever, writing and speaking to defend the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
In the past year, the longtime Democrat and famed lawyer publicly said he was “furious” with President Obama over the Iran nuclear deal; chastised J-Street for not allowing him to speak at its conference; and authored the book “Abraham: The World’s First (But Certainly Not Last) Jewish Lawyer.”
“Abraham is the only biblical character that starts his career arguing with God,” Dershowitz has said, referring to Abraham’s protest against God’s planned destruction of the town of Sodom.
“What [subject] could be more appropriate for a criminal lawyer?” Dershowitz said, adding, “I have taught about him and thought about him, and finally, at the age of 77, decided to write about him—since that was about the age that Abraham was when some of these adventures took place.”
