As the unwitting representative of the dozens of people killed in the latest wave of violence in the Jewish state, Sarah Litman invited the nation of Israel to her wedding.

This was no ordinary celebration, however. Litman’s father and brother were shot the week prior by an Islamic Jihad terrorist in the West Bank; the family was headed to a pre-wedding celebration.

“This evening, instead of wearing the bridal dress, I will sit on the floor with a torn shirt,” Litman reportedly said. “But very soon, we will marry in a large and happy wedding. We will go on and be happy as father and Netanel always were. We will not be crushed.”

Days later, the couple was married in what they called the public “million-person wedding.” Litman said, “Multitudes will come to make us happy.”
