Jewish Woman Pleads Guilty to Bomb Prank at London Synagogue

A Jewish woman pleaded guilty on Monday to making a prank call about a bomb she claimed was planted at a synagogue in north London, Jewish News Online reported.
London native Claire Mann, 43, appeared in court and admitted to one count of communicating false information about a bomb threat, and one count of committing an act or series of acts with the intent of perverting the course of justice. The injustices took place over a three-week period in July 2013.
Three years ago, Mann phoned Rebbetzin Elisheva Mason and told her an explosive device had been planted at Finchley United Synagogue. Mann planned to blame Roz Page, a parent at her daughter’s Jewish school with whom she had a falling out.
Earlier that July, Mann contacted police claiming Page sent her abusive text messages, which in reality she sent to herself. She then used the same phone 17 days later to call Rebbetzin Mason with the bomb hoax, according to The Jewish Chronicle.
Outside the courthouse on Monday, Page said was certain Mann would never admit to lying three years ago. She added, “I burst into tears when she said she was guilty.”
Mann admitted to a separate charge of perverting the course of public justice at a court hearing last week, The Jewish Chronicle reported. She will be sentenced for both offences in August.
