In a series of robocalls to voters ahead of the June 28 Democratic congressional primary, comedian Jackie Mason said that because candidate Rep. Jerry Nadler voted for the Iran nuke deal, Jews are now facing “the hydrogen bomb.”
“You know who Jerry Nadler is? He’s the guy who wasting your time in Congress. He’s accomplishing nothing,” Mason, 85, said, explaining one reason why he is endorsing contender Oliver Rosenberg. “And when he does accomplish something, it’s always the wrong thing… No decent person would vote for Jerry Nadler . .. Vote for Oliver Rosenberg!”
During the 30-second call, Mason also said of Nadler, “You would never know he was a Jew all his life. By looking at him, you could tell he’s a little overweight, and he’s a little short.” The comic later on describes the Iran deal as “the greatest threat Israel has faced since it was born.”
Nadler’s 10th Congressional District runs from Manhattan’s Upper West Side to south Brooklyn, according to the New York Post. The 24-year incumbent, who is been endorsed by President Barack Obama, has said that he believes the nuclear deal makes the world a safer place.
Nadler campaign spokesman Daniel Schwarz slammed Rosenberg for going attacking Nadler, saying, “It’s a new low from a campaign that frankly has been a stream of shameless negative attacks from the very beginning.”
