A pair of Orthodox-Jewish beat-boxers wowed judges and viewers on Tuesday night with an unlikely performance on America’s Got Talent.

Ilan “The Aleph Bass” Swartz-Brownstein and Josh “The Orthobox” Leviton performed to Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass. Though at first appearing skeptical, all four judges glowingly praised the beat-boxing duo by the end of their act and voted them on to the next round.

Simon Cowell called the performance “cute” and added, “I actually like you guys. It’s good and fun.” Fellow judge Heidi Klum said, “It sounded so unique and different. I was very impressed,” while Mel B noted, “You got some rhythm both of you up there. You were giving it some. I liked it a lot.”

Judge Howie Mandel issued a resounding “Mazal tov,” telling the tzitzit-bearing pair, “You guys are amazing.”

Ilan is currently a student at New York’s Yeshiva University; Josh works as a consultant. The friends said they met in Israel three years ago at Jerusalem’s Western Wall. Before going on stage, Ilan admitted, “I’m really scared, especially for Simon [Cowell]. The biggest judge I’ve performed in front of is my mom, I guess.”

Ilan & Josh submitted their audition video to America’s Got Talent in November, beat-boxing to the popular Jewish song Hava Nagila. Watch their live performance on the show in the video below:
