A video of a popular Israeli musician’s comedic commentary on the Olympic performance of a gold-medal US gymnast has attracted over half a million views on Facebook over the past week.
In a tongue-in-cheek routine, which is all in Hebrew, Danny Sanderson — who in 2005 won a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to Israeli music — opens the clip saying, “In the Olympics, there is a great American athlete named Simone Biles who is really wonderful. But, I want to say, there are many things she does that I can also do. Pay attention.”
Sitting in front of his computer, Sanderson then plays the footage of Biles doing a balance-beam routine at the Olympic Games in Rio. Pointing at the screen, Sanderson says, “this I can do” as Biles does a dip on the beam.
As the gymnast launches into triple back flips, Sanderson is heard saying “no, no.” Upon landing on the other side of the beam, Biles is seen artfully moving her arms to the side and pointing her toes. “I can do this,” says Sanderson.
His commentary then continues similarly throughout the remainder of the performance.
As Biles approaches the end of the beam for her final dismount Sanderson assures, “Not a problem, not a problem.” Upon her landing, as the star Olympian raises her arms in the air, Sanderson happily affirms, “I can do that.”
As of the time of publication the clip has been ‘liked’ over 9800 times and shared 5143 times on Facebook.
