Islamic State Kills 51 at Wedding Party in Turkey

JNS.org – At least 51 people were killed and 69 wounded when a teenage suicide bomber attacked a wedding party in the Turkish city of Gaziantep on Saturday.
The terror attack was likely carried out by the Islamic State (ISIS) by a teen approximately 14-years-old, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced on Sunday.
Of the 51 dead, at least 22 were children, and 17 of the wounded are in serious condition.
The Kurdish wedding party was dancing in the street when the explosive went off, according to Reuters.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences to the families of the terror attack victims as well as to Turkey. Also expressing Israel’s sympathy to the victims’ families, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin called the bombing attack barbaric.
“We stand beside the people of Turkey at this sad time,” Rivlin said. “This event once again proves how vital it is that we all unite in the fight against those who are willing to kill and maim innocent people in order to promote their own goals. We must all cooperate in all ways we can, in order to put a stop to such senseless bloodshed and destruction that has already destroyed the lives of so many.”
Gaziantep is on the Syrian border, where Turkey has been facing threats and attacks by the Islamic State.
