JNS.org – The US State Department this week issued a warning to American citizens in the Gaza Strip, urging them to leave “as soon as possible when border crossings open.”
“While Israel and Hamas continue to observe the temporary cease-fire that ended the Gaza conflict in 2014, sporadic mortar or rocket fire and corresponding Israeli military response continue to occur,” a State Department official said. “Gaza is under the control of Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization. The security environment within Gaza and on its borders is dangerous and volatile. Violent demonstrations and shootings occur on a frequent basis and the collateral risks are high.”
The State Department also warned US citizens in Israel, including in Judea and Samaria, to be aware of current events and “know what areas to avoid when travelling throughout the region,” due to the recent terror wave.
