Israeli Paralympic swimmer Inbal Pezaro won a bronze medal at the Rio Paralympic Games after competing in the 200-meter individual medley race.
Pezaro, 29, who was born in the northern Israeli town of Kibbutz Yizre’el, was paralyzed from the waist down in childhood after a vascular complication.
She began swimming at five, becoming a professional, competitive swimmer by 12. She made her Paralympic debut in Athens in 2004 and competed again in the 2008 Beijing games.
Pezaro has won multiple Paralympic medals and has set new Israeli records in swimming.
This is Israel’s third medal overall in Rio.
Israeli athletes have won an impressive 380 medals – 124 of which are gold medals – over the last 14 Paralympic games, Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronot reported.
