The star of the hit TV series “Transparent” received wide applause at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, when he admonished the orchestra to keep quiet — in Hebrew.
Jeffrey Tambor — who plays Maura (formerly Morton) Pfefferman on the Amazon show about a Jewish father who announces to his family that he is transgender — said, “Sheket b’vakasha” to the band, when it tried to signal that his acceptance speech was going on too long.
Tambor, who is Jewish, won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
