Donald Trump’s Attacks on the Media Encourage and Support Antisemitism

It has become Donald Trump’s most famous refrain: the “media” is rigging the election. This, of course, is the same media that is responsible for the rise of Mr. Trump’s celebrity and candidacy in the first place.
Yet, according to Trump, the “media” is all-in for Hillary Clinton, and doing everything in its power to elect her.
First, there are mainstream media outlets that support Donald Trump (New York Post, Breitbart). Second, the media’s opposition to Mr. Trump has nothing to do with a conspiracy against him. It has everything to do with his complete unfitness to serve as Commander-in-Chief.
For proof, just look at every historically Republican paper that has endorsed Hillary Clinton (The Arizona Republic, The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Dallas Morning News, etc.). Or look at all the outlets that have never endorsed a candidate for president before, but have broken that tradition to speak out against Mr. Trump (USA Today, Foreign Policy, etc).
Still, Mr. Trump continues to blame the monolithic “media” for all of his problems.
“So what,” you say. Let Trump blame whomever he wants.
The problem is that criticism of the “media” or allegations of a “media conspiracy” are almost always mere substitutions for Jew-hatred.
From Henry Ford to Adolf Hitler to The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, antisemites have always claimed that the Jews control the media, and that they use this control to enslave people and run the world as they see fit.
Don’t believe me?
David Duke, a proud Trump supporter who Mr. Trump still has not fully denounced, argues that the media hates Trump because of its “Jewish tribal nature”:
“The Jewish establishment is absolutely zeroing in now on Donald Trump,” Duke said on his radio show on Tuesday. “The viciousness of these Jews is unbelievable.”
The Tap Blog, a website that actively and aggressively campaigns for Trump, recently published an article explaining that “Six Jewish Companies Control 96% of the World’s Media.”
These are just two examples. There are countless more.
But, you say, Trump can’t be antisemitic because he has a Jewish son-in-law, and because his daughter converted to Judaism.
Really? What about all of the conservative Jews who claim that Noam Chomsky is an antisemite, despite the fact that he is Jewish? What about Jeremy Corbyn (who claims Jewish roots)? Max Blumenthal? The list goes on and on.
Donald Trump might not be personally antisemitic. But he encourages, trades on and benefits from antisemitism and Jew-hatred. And now he’s fanning the flames of antisemites everywhere with his claims of an election that is rigged by the Jew-controlled media.
If you vote for Donald Trump, this is what you’re supporting. Don’t kid yourself otherwise.
