The convicted killer of nine black parishioners at a South Carolina church is refusing to undergo a psychiatric evaluation – the only thing that could possibly prevent him from being put to death by the electric chair or lethal injection – on the grounds that the field “is a Jewish invention and does nothing but invent diseases and tell people they have problems when they don’t,” the Associated Press reported on Sunday.

Dylann Roof, 22 – who was convicted on Thursday of murder, hate crimes and obstruction of religion – wrote in a handwritten motion to the court that he did not want the jury to consider his mental health while determining on January 3 whether he should receive the death penalty or life imprisonment.

According to AP, this did not come as a surprise to anyone who had heard passages from his journal — read aloud during his trial — which included the above sentiment and other racist ramblings.

During six days of testimony it was revealed that Roof had gone on a shooting rampage on June 17, 2015 — 45 minutes into a Bible-study class he purposely “attended” at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston — and killed his victims, execution-style, with a .45-caliber Glock. In his confession to FBI agents, Roof admitted to his racist beliefs — such as that blacks are inferior to whites – all of which he had penned in his journal.

Roof’s victims were: Rev. Clementa Pinckney, 41, Emanuel AME’s pastor and a state senator; Myra Thompson, 59, who taught Bible study that night; Cynthia Hurd, 54, a librarian; Depayne Middleton-Doctor, 49; Daniel ‘Dapper Dan’ Simmons, 74; Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, 45, a high school track coach; Ethel Lance, 70, the church sexton; Susie Jackson, 87, who sang in the choir; and Tywanza Sanders, 26, Jackson’s nephew and an aspiring poet.
