JNS.org – Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri has revoked the residency status Wednesday of 11 family members of the Palestinian terrorist who committed the truck-ramming attack in Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood earlier this month.
Following the attack, which killed four IDF soldiers and wounded 15 others, Deri announced that he would take immediate measures against Fadi al-Qunbar’s family, many of whom were living and working in Israel under a family reunification program.
Deri said in a statement that, after listening to family members and consulting with security officials, he decided to revoke the interim residency status of 10 members of the al-Qunbar family, and the permanent residency of al-Qunbar’s mother.
“Only immediate and practical measures can deter terrorists. I am confident that revoking the residency status of family members will serve as a warning sign to others,” Deri said.
Al-Qunbar, a resident of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, plowed a truck into a group of soldiers in Jerusalem on January 8 and was shot and killed at the scene.
