JNS.org – Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein urged his American counterpart, US Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, to advocate for the relocation of the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, during a meeting in DC earlier this week.
“The meaning of wide congressional support could lead to global and regional support,” Edelstein told Ryan. “If the American embassy moves, I am utterly certain that other countries will move their embassies to the capital.”
Ryan “reiterated my steadfast support for Israel’s security and her inalienable right to self-defense. The historic alliance between our two nations has never been more important, and I appreciate Speaker Edelstein’s commitment to strengthening this special relationship.”
Edelstein also met with US Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who heads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The two lawmakers discussed the situation in the Middle East, and Edelstein asked Corker for his help to promote US-Israel collaboration on financial, social and environmental projects.
