‘Here We Go!’ Tweets Former New York Giants Running Back Tiki Barber at Starting Line of Jerusalem Marathon

“Here we go!” tweeted former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber along with a selfie at the starting line of the 2017 Jerusalem Winner Marathon on Friday morning.
Barber was among 30,000 registered participants in the seventh annual event, which kicked off at Sacher Park in the Israeli capital. He was running on behalf of the organization KultureCity, to raise money for autism awareness and acceptance.
Other participants included dozens of terror victims, family members, and volunteers who assist them through their rehabilitation, sponsored by the non-profit organization OneFamily, which stated that the group’s objective was to show the world that terrorism cannot break their spirit or that of the nation.
In his greeting address, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said, “Every year, I am newly invigorated to see the thousands of runners, young and old, who come from all over the country and around the world to participate in the Jerusalem Winner Marathon. Each year, participants run through the very streets where kings and prophets walked, against the backdrop of Jerusalem’s cultural and historical landscapes. It is a unique and breathtaking experience.”
Runners had the option of the full marathon (42.2 km), half-marathon (21.1 km), 10 km race, competitive 5 km race, popular 5 km race, family 1.7 km race and 800m community race.
This year’s winner was Shadrack Kipkogey, 26, from Kenya.
