Following Wednesday’s deadly car-ramming and stabbing rampage in central London, some social media commentators noted the way in which the press covered it differently from similar attacks that have taken place in Israel.
For example, Israeli Ambassador to South Africa Arthur Lenk tweeted, “Confident & glad international media won’t headline: UK man killed by police after allegedly stabbing civilians in “attack”. #OnlyInIsrael.”

International human rights lawyer and freelance journalist Arsen Ostrovsky broached a different — but related — subject, asking, “Will UN, EU & Int’l Community call on UK to show restraint in wake of #LondonAttack, like they do to Israel after Palestinian attacks?”

Later, in a tweet directed at Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom, Ostrovsky wrote, “Will you also blame British cops for ‘excessive force’ like you did against Israel, when we have been target of similar Palestinian terror?”

Meanwhile, in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, City Hall was lit up in the colors of the British flag in a display of solidarity.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said, “Israel expresses its deep shock at the terror attack in London today and its solidarity with the victims and with the people and government of Great Britain. Terror is terror wherever it occurs and we will fight it relentlessly.”
Wednesday’s attack in London appeared to be part of an ongoing trend — previously reported on by The Algemeiner — of Islamist jihadis around the world mimicking tactics used by Palestinian terrorists against Israelis.
