JNS.org – An assault rifle that had been used to commit shooting terror attacks against Jewish communities in the West Bank was found hidden in the headboard of a Palestinian child’s bed in the village of Fahm, Israel Hayom reported on Friday.
Israel’s Shin Bet security agency, in conjunction with the IDF’s elite Duvdevan army unit, discovered the weapon while searching the home of a suspected member of a terrorist cell last month. The search was part of a larger operation that ultimately resulted in the arrest of two terrorists.
In the child’s room, pink “Dora the Explorer” sheets and dolls on the bed gave the room a normal appearance, but inside the headboard’s storage compartment, troops discovered the weapon.
During the past two months, the terrorist cell used the gun to perpetrate shooting attacks against the northern West Bank communities of Shavei Shomron, Hermesh and Shaked, as well as the nearby Salem army post. Nobody was killed in the attacks, but the shootings caused property damage.
The arrested terrorist cell members were Louis Ahmed Shafiq Saabneh, 34, a lawyer with ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terror group, and his cousin Shafiq Mahmoud Shafiq Shaabneh, 26.
