Twenty-two people were killed and more than 50 injured after a terrorist bomb ripped through a pop concert in the English city of Manchester on Monday night.
Armed police have arrested a 23-year-old man in Chorlton, south Manchester, in connection with the attack on Tuesday.
A lone male suicide attacker set off a homemade bomb near the entrance to the Manchester Arena shortly after 10.30 PM, at the end of a concert by singer Ariana Grande. Andy James, an eyewitness who was leaving the concert with his 9 year-old brother, described the mayhem as the bomb exploded in an interview with CNN. “You could feel it in the ground,” he said of the explosion. “It was just horrific.”
Lucy Powell, who represents Manchester Central in the UK parliament, tweeted a message of solidarity shortly after the explosion.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said her thoughts were with the victims and families of those affected in “what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack.” Most of the concert-goers were teenagers and children.
Monday’s atrocity is the second serious terrorist attack in the UK since March 22, when British Islamist Khalid Masood ploughed a car into pedestrians walking on Westminster Bridge in central London. Four people were killed on that occasion, with more than 50 injured.
