JNS.org – Jeremy Corbyn, British Labour Party leader and prime ministerial contender, described the Palestinian terror group Hamas as “serious and hardworking,” while calling for European trade agreements with Israel to be suspended, in a newly-resurfaced 2010 radio interview.
Corbyn’s comments on Hamas and Israel reemerged following recent allegations that he attended a 2014 wreath-laying ceremony at the gravesite of Palestinian terrorist Atef Bseiso, who was one of several terrorists responsible for perpetrating the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre in which 11 Israeli athletes were killed.
Corbyn denied the allegations May 29 of his visit three years ago to the gravesite.
“Jeremy Corbyn condemns the Munich massacre and its perpetrators, and that what he was attending was not anything to do with perpetrator Atef Bseiso, but an event to commemorate the 1985 bombing of the PLO headquarters,” a Corbyn spokesperson told Jonathan Arkush, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
Corbyn has also previously referred to Hamas as “friends” and voiced support for the Palestinian Authority while repeatedly criticizing the Israeli government.
