JNS.org – A new initiative supporting Israeli victory and Palestinian defeat, dubbed the “Israel Victory Project,” was launched on Wednesday during a conference at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The conference featured experts from Israel’s political, military and media establishments, including Knesset member Amir Ohana (Likud), Maj. Gen. (res.) Dan Biton, Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser and Maariv journalist Dr. Revital Amiran.
The project, an initiative of the US-based Middle East Forum (MEF) think tank, proposes a fresh approach to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. MEF said the conflict will only be resolved once the Palestinians are defeated, abandon the objective of destroying Israel and recognize the Jewish state.
“The current approach to achieving a resolution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict has consistently failed because it allows Palestinian rejectionism to be met by a call for further concessions from Israel,” said MEF President Daniel Pipes.
Matan Peleg, CEO of the Zionist NGO Im Tirtzu, said at the Jerusalem conference that “strengthening the belief of the Israeli public in Zionism and victory is a fundamental element of success.”
Last month, MEF and Republican members of Congress launched the initiative’s American iteration, the “Israel Victory Caucus,” to push for a revision of US negotiating strategy in the Middle East. Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) said the time has come for “a new US approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict…they (the Palestinians) must give up the goal of destroying Israel and recognize Israel as the Jewish state.”
