JNS.org – The source of classified intelligence shared by President Donald Trump with Russian government officials in May was acquired by Israel in a hacking operation against Islamic State computers, the New York Times reported on Monday.
The report, which cites a unnamed US official, says Israeli “cyberoperators” infiltrated an Islamic State terror cell of bomb-makers in Syria several months ago. The information obtained by the Israeli hackers enabled the US to determine the Islamic State terrorists were developing explosives that could bypass airport security in a laptop battery, according to the report.
In May, a previous report said an Israeli intelligence asset embedded within an Islamic State terror cell may have been put at risk following Trump’s alleged disclosure of highly sensitive intelligence during an Oval Office meeting with Russian officials.
