On the eve of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture 2017, the Palestinian Prisoner Affairs Ministry issued a report claiming that more than one million Palestinians have been tortured by Israel.
Since the ministry also falsely claims that more than one million Palestinians have been imprisoned or arrested by Israel, that is an impressive 100% torture rate.
It’s funny that not one of the Palestinians who went on a recent hunger strike in Israeli prisons even mentioned torture. Instead, they demanded kitchen privileges and more satellite TV channels.
Come to think of it, the lack of TV channels is probably exactly what they mean by “torture.”
By the way, the article that I linked to in Ma’an is identical to stories in other media outlets, meaning that these Palestinian “independent media” sites are simply publishing press releases without the slightest bit of fact checking. In this case, the original press release must have been a PDF or something similar because the text is corrupted — just like the media itself.
