JNS.org – Aaron Rajman, an Orthodox Jewish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, was killed in his Florida home on Monday night by unknown assailants.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Rajman, 25, was shot dead following an altercation with several men who broke into his residence in Boca Raton. The suspects fled the scene after the fatal shooting.
An acquaintance of Rajman said the MMA competitor was a member of Chabad-Lubavitch and was deeply involved with the local Jewish community, the WPBF television network reported.
In addition to studying Torah, Rajman also reportedly taught local Jewish children self-defense techniques and instructed local police in the Israeli Krav Maga marital arts style.
“This was a special young man who had a heart of gold. It’s a tragedy,” said Rabbi Zalman Bukiet, director of the Chabad of West Boca Raton, according to the WPTV broadcaster.
Rajman debuted as a professional MMA fighter in April 2014 and had a 2-2 record. As an amateur fighter, his record was 8-1.
