JNS.org – Israel Police SWAT teams, together with the IDF and the Shin Bet security agency, killed a Palestinian terrorist early Sunday morning after he fired on security officers attempting to apprehend him.
Amar Ahmed Khalil, 34, hailing from the village of Nabi Salih, was the prime suspect in a drive-by shooting attack Saturday near the Jewish community of Ateret. Khalil wounded a Palestinian individual in the attack, and opened fire on an Israeli military post near Nabi Salih before fleeing the scene.
Acting on intelligence provided by the Shin Bet, the IDF and the elite YAMAM counter-terrorist unit were dispatched to apprehend Khalil. When the terrorist was located, he opened fire on security forces with a homemade weapon and was killed.
An additional Palestinian suspect was arrested in connection with Saturday’s shooting terror attack near Ateret.
