‘Orange Is the New Black’ Star Gushes About ‘Crazy Jewish Deli Cravings’ During Her Pregnancy
by Shiryn Ghermezian
Actress Laura Prepon — from the hit Netflix series “Orange is the New Black” — revealed to Us Weekly on Monday that during her current pregnancy she has been craving Jewish deli food.
The 37-year-old mom-to-be explained that the desire stems from her childhood visits to a deli with her father whenever he had a break from work. She reminisced to the magazine, “We would get this pastrami on rye sandwich with a Dr. Brown’s black cherry soda. When I was a kid that’s what we would get with my dad. With like mustard and sauerkraut.”
“What’s so funny is I have not eaten that stuff probably since I was a kid with my dad,” she added. “So when I got pregnant all of a sudden I was like, ‘I need a pastrami on rye. I need a Dr. Brown’s black cherry soda. I need mustard and sauerkraut.’ These crazy Jewish deli cravings hit me so hard.”
Prepon, now nine months pregnant, is expecting a girl with her fiance Ben Foster.
