A Chabad rabbi in California is sharing a heart-warming story to cheer up Americans still reeling from last weekend’s violent neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville.
Arriving at his Pacific Beach, CA., synagogue on Tuesday morning, Rabbi Yossi Tiefenbrun found a stem of white flowers sitting at his gate. Accompanying the gift was a card from an anonymous friend, who wrote: “You are our neighbor. This is your country. I’m sorry.”
“It took a few minutes to figure out what it was,” Tiefenbrun told The Algemeiner on Thursday. “We live in an amazing beach town where the people are amazing.”
“With all the terrible stuff going on around the world, this is a little beacon of light and faith in humanity, that we are all equal and here to share G-d’s beautiful world, as one people,” Tiefenbrun wrote in an earlier post on Facebook.
“I don’t know what the motivation was, but I’m sure it comes from the goodness of someone’s heart,” he said. “I thought it was pretty awesome that somebody did something like that, and after all the negativity out there in the press, I figured this was a feel-good story to show people that the world is not all bad.”
