CNN List of World’s Best Bars Includes Tel Aviv Hotspot Showcasing ‘Lost Art of the Cocktail’
by Shiryn Ghermezian
A Tel Aviv hotspot made it onto a CNN list of the world’s 50 best bars in 2017.
Coming in at number 50 was the Imperial Craft Cocktail Bar, located inside the Imperial Hotel on HaYarkon Street in the Israeli seaside metropolis. The bar is owned is Bar Shira, Dror Alterovich and Gilad Livnat — three Israelis who are behind a total of four restaurants and bars in Israel. Livnat’s family also owns the Imperial Hotel. According to the bar’s website, Imperial Craft was created by “veteran bartenders of the city” who were hoping to create “a temple to the lost art of the cocktail.”
The bar was ranked 17th on the same CNN list two years ago. It also received the Best Bar in the Middle East & Africa Award for 2017 by the World’s 50 Best Bars media group during an event in London last week, according to The Times of Israel. Imperial Craft won the same award in 2014.
The CNN list was created by a panel of 500 international judges and London’s American Bar at the Savoy was named the top bar in the world.
