JNS.org – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Wednesday that some 800 million shekels (approximately $230 million) will be allocated by his government to build new infrastructure in Judea and Samaria.
Funding for the infrastructure projects will purportedly be distributed during the next fiscal year, and some of the projects that fall under the initiative are slated to include five new major highways.
The prime minister’s announcement came on Wednesday during his meeting with leaders of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
Netanyahu’s pledge came two days after the community leaders launched protests outside the prime minister’s residence, urging him to improve infrastructure in Judea and Samaria.
“It is significant news for all the people living in Judea and Samaria and in the Jordan Valley,” said Avi Roeh, the leader of the Yesha Council, a coordinating body for municipal councils in Judea and Samaria, Haaretz reported.
