JNS.org – Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Louise Mushikiwabo on Thursday confirmed recent reports that the country is in talks to take in illegal African migrants currently residing in Israel.
In an interview with Rwandan newspaper The New Times, Mushikiwabo said, “I do not have the numbers, but from the discussions with Israel a while back, it had to be something around 10,000 or a bit more than that, and we were comfortable with that.”
Amos Schocken, publisher of the Haaretz newspaper, blasted the move on Twitter. He called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several other government ministers “murderers in suits.”
“Infiltrators is correct, Mr. Prime Minister, but also asylum seekers, whose requests you have prevented from being heard,” Schocken wrote. “If you are determined to remove them, send them to Canada or countries where their security is ensured. This is your responsibility.”
Netanyahu responded by tweeting, “The attacks by Amos Schocken, the publisher of Haaretz, only strengthen my resolve—to continue to remove the illegal migrants from the State of Israel.”
