Fifteen Israeli teens who lost loved ones in terror attacks visited London recently on an organized trip and were hosted by a popular soccer team that has close ties with the Jewish community in the British capital, The Algemeiner has learned.

The group visited the legendary Wembley Stadium in London where they were the guests of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, a team known as “the Jews” and referred to as the “Yid” (short for Yiddish) by their fans. Many supporters of the club also call themselves the “Yid Army” in reference to the historically Jewish history of the London neighborhood where the team’s stadium is located, The Algemeiner previously reported.

The group trip to London was organized by OneFamily, which supports bereaved families of fallen soldier and terror victims. While in the UK, the group stayed with local Jewish residents and visited many local attractions, such as Buckingham Palace and the House of Parliament. They also met with Jewish Londoners who work to build relationships between young Israelis from bereaved families and Britain’s Jews.

One trip participant was Shmuel Solomon, who lost his father and two siblings in a terror attack at a Shabbat dinner in Halamish this past summer. The assault also left his mother severely wounded.

During a meeting with members of London’s Jewish community, Solomon said, “I was very wary about joining this trip; it’s been only four months since the tragedy, but now I am certain that I did the right thing. I made new friends here, and together we laugh and cry and speak about everything. There’s a spirit of victory here. We triumphed because we chose life.”
