Did Obama Protect Hezbollah?

As we reflect upon the legacy of former President Barack Obama, a story in Politico alleges that the Obama administration stonewalled a Drug Enforcement Agency investigation against Hezbollah. If accurate, the report is devastating to American and Israeli interests.
Politico reported that the White House stopped investigating the massive drug dealing of Hezbollah in order to bolster the Iran nuclear deal. One former CIA officer alleged the following: “[The Iranians] said listen, we need you to lay off Hezbollah, to tamp down the pressure on them, and the Obama administration acquiesced to that request.”
I believe the report — because it makes sense. Terrorists stand with terrorists. Iran is Hezbollah’s chief backer. The terror group and the terrorist state are two sides of the same coin.
As a Brookings document describes: “Hezbollah had killed more Americans than any other terrorist group before 9/11. Even today, it is still far ahead of the Islamic State on this score. … When the United States invaded and occupied Iraq, Hezbollah worked with Iraqi Shiite militias that attacked U.S. soldiers and their Iraqi allies. Hezbollah has also long been active against America’s ally Israel, waging a border war against the Jewish state and attacking its facilities and citizens — and at times those of local Jewish communities — in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.”
Hezbollah is an illegal terrorist organization, according to Canada, France, Australia — and the United States. Despite this, the president of the United States supposedly hampered an investigation into them?
US Congressman Robert Pittenger (R-NC) is right to demand a Congressional inquiry about whether the Obama White House obstructed an investigation into Hezbollah.
