Chris Rock Opens First-Ever Tel Aviv Show With Expression of ‘Love’ for Israel

American comedian Chris Rock started his first-ever show in Israel on Tuesday by talking about how much he adores the country.
After stepping on stage at Tel Aviv’s Menorah Mivtachim Arena, Rock greeted his 10,000 fans saying, “I’m loving this country. Israel, yeah!” During his 70-minute set, he also joked his divorce last year saying, “I lost so much money, I’m doing shows in Israel.”
The 52-year-old previously visited Israel in 2008 with actors Ben Stiller and Jada Pinkett Smith for the Israel premiere of their animated film “Madagascar 2,” in which Rock voiced a zebra named Marty.
The acts that opened for Rock provided their own share of Jewish and Israel-inspired jokes, according to The Times of Israel. Comic, and emcee for the evening, Jeff Ross talked about his Jewish roots, explaining, “I love my people and you are my people,” before listing his suggestions for Jewish porn movie titles. Michelle Wolf of “The Daily Show” expressed love for Tel Aviv, which she described as “Miami’s much older sister,” and fellow comic Anthony Jeselnick told the audience “that one went over the top of your yarmulkes” after they seemed to not follow a particular comment he made.
