A number of top mainstream US Jewish groups have criticized President Donald Trump following his reported questioning on Thursday of taking immigrants from what he slurred as “s**thole countries.”
“Such vulgar language and sentiment are inappropriate,” Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper — the dean and associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) — said. “President Trump should withdraw the statement and apologize.”
Such vulgar language & sentiment are inappropriate. @POTUS should withdraw the statement and apologize – Rabbis Hier & Cooper in response to @POTUS reported stmnt wanting more immigrants from places like Norway rather than from “shithole counties” like Haiti and those in Africa.

Last January, Hier gave a benediction at Trump’s inauguration.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) tweeted, “These shameful and profoundly offensive statements are beneath the dignity of the office.”

Former ADL chief Abraham Foxman tweeted, “POTUS it matters not what countries we came from to America. The sum total of our contributions made and make America great!”

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) tweeted, “We don’t want to believe @POTUS said U.S. shouldn’t take migrants from ‘s***hole countries.’ People have a fundamental dignity. True, we can’t accept everyone — but all deserve the chance to try, pursue the American dream & contribute their talents to our nation of immigrants.”
