JNS.org – Israel’s new long-range Arrow 3 missile defense system was tested successfully early Monday morning, in a joint trial carried out in partnership with the United States.
“A short while ago, the Defense Ministry and American MDA (Missile Defense Agency) carried out a planned flight test of its Arrow weapons system, with an Arrow 3 interceptor,” the Defense Ministry stated on Twitter.
The Arrow 3 system, which joins the missile defense arsenal comprised of the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrows 1 and 2, is designed to protect Israel from short-, medium- and long-range missiles and is among the world’s highest-level multi-tiered missile defense network.
Arrow 3 is designed to shoot down intercontinental ballistic missiles, while incapacitating nuclear, chemical, biological, or conventional warheads.
