The silence of pro-Palestinian activists amid the Assad regime’s ongoing military assault on the Yarmouk refugee camp in the Syrian capital of Damascus has drawn the critical eye of numerous online commentators.

Intense fighting between regime-aligned forces and ISIS fighters, resulting in widespread devastation, has been reported in Yarmouk — home to tens of thousands of Palestnian refugees — in recent days.

Michael Freeman, an official at the Israeli Embassy in London, tweeted:

After 7 days of aerial bombardment this is the situation in the Palestinian Yarmouk camp in Syria. Where are the @PSCupdates to protest, organize a rally or even make a statement? Nowhere. Because they have never cared about Palestinians just about hating Israel https://t.co/JxgGnyFrDS

Journalist Frida Ghitis noted that “[w]hen Palestinians are killed by the Syrian army (or by anyone other than Israel) nobody seems to care.”
