JNS.org – The car of Oz Commando Brigade Commander Col. Avi Blot was broken into on Thursday and military documents were stolen.
Military police and the Shin Bet launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred in a parking garage somewhere in Judea and Samaria. The documents were reported to be low classification; Blot had removed his weapon and encrypted communications device from the car.
IDF procedures forbid officers from leaving classified documents unsupervised in their cars.
Blot has been commanding the Oz Commando Brigade for almost a year, but previously served as commander of the Paratroopers 101st Battalion and was wounded in “Operation Cast Lead.” He was subsequently promoted to command Maglan Special Forces, then the Hebron Brigade, before being put in charge of the Commando Brigade.
Blot was being considered for the position of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military secretary prior to the incident.
