Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Jerusalem on Thursday with the visiting chief minister of the Indian state of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani.
According to Netanyahu’s office, the agenda of the meeting was the “continued strengthening of relations between the two countries.”
Rupani, Netanyahu’s office said, “expressed great interest in Israeli water, agriculture and cyber technologies.”
“We believe in this alliance between Israel and India, and it was tremendously enhanced by Prime Minister [Narendra] Modi’s visit to Israel,” Netanyahu said. “I was pleased to be in Gujarat, and now I’m pleased that Gujarat is in Israel.”
Last year, Israel and India celebrated the 25th anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations. Ties between the two countries have flourished in recent years and Modi’s tour of Israel in July was the first ever by a sitting Indian prime minister.
This past January, Netanyahu made a reciprocal trip to India.
Meanwhile, also on Thursday, Reuters reported that India’s Oil Ministry has asked refiners to prepare for a “drastic reduction or zero” imports of Iranian oil.
