Hundreds of mourners gathered in the southern Israeli moshav of Nir Yisrael on Monday for the funeral of Ziv Hajbi, the 35-year-old father of three who was murdered the previous day in a Palestinian terrorist attack in the West Bank.
Attendees included family members of Kim Levengrond Yehezkel, the 28-year-old mother of one who was also killed in the shooting at a factory in the Barkan Industrial Park. She was laid to rest in Rosh Ha’ayin late Sunday night.
“My darling, I can’t say watch over us from above because you are here,” Hajbi’s wife Natalie said in her eulogy for her husband. “Help me to raise the children. We’ve been together since we were 17 and half. Come back, I will love you forever.”
Hajbi’s mother, Iris, said her son “loved life, loved work.”
She asked: “Why do I need to bury my son at age 35?”
Iris also called for the death of the terrorist, Ashraf Walid Suleiman Na’alowa, who fled the scene of the attack and remained on the loose on Monday.
“Anyone who touches Jews should be killed,” she said.
Overnight Sunday, violent disturbances broke out in Na’alowa’s home village of Shuweika, near Tulkarem, as IDF troops conducted searches there.
An Israeli security official said on Monday it was “only a matter of time” before Na’alowa was arrested.
