JNS.org – A “sharp increase” in Palestinian violence has been seen in the past few months at the Israel borders, including two deadly terror attacks in the Barkan Industrial Park and Gush Etzion, as well as attempted stabbings at Israel Defense Forces soldiers, according to a report released this week by the Ministry of Strategic Affairs and Public Diplomacy.
Between the months of September to October, encouraged by both Hamas and Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian leadership continues to publicize support for terrorism. They have praised the recent attacks, even calling on Palestinians to launch a third intifada.
Amid the 25-year anniversary of the Oslo Accords, Palestinians were called upon to conduct suicide attacks in Judea and Samaria. They also published antisemitic content against Israel timed to the scheduled eviction and subsequent demolition of the illegal Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, which has been halted by the Israeli Supreme Court.
They are attempting to organize a BDS campaign of the Eurovision Song Contest, slated to be held in Tel Aviv in May 2019, and accused Israel of purposefully killing children in Gaza, where there have been Hamas-led riots along the border with the Jewish state since March 30, the start of the “March of Return.”
“The various Palestinian factions, led by [Mahmoud Abbas] and Hamas, are constantly working to undermine Israel’s standing in the world and to promote boycotts against the Jewish state,” said Minister of Strategic Affairs Gilad Erdan. “This behavior reveals that they have not abandoned their dream of destroying Israel.”
He added that “the Ministry of Strategic Affairs will continue to expose the true face of the leaders of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, and demonstrate that incitement and anti-Semitic attacks against Israel are continuing unabated and even intensifying.”
