A week after Benjamin Netanyahu visited Oman, the London-based Arabic newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported on Friday that the Israeli prime minister will likely travel to another, unnamed, Gulf nation in the near future.
The report added that the Oman trip, during which Netanyahu met in Muscat with Sultan Qaboos bin Said, was organized by a Jewish-American mediator — also unnamed — who is close to the Israeli leader.
During their meeting last week, Netanyahu and Qaboos discussed “ways to advance the peace process in the Middle East as well as several matters of joint interest regarding the achievement of peace and stability in the Middle East,” according to a joint statement.
On Thursday, Trump administration Middle East diplomatic envoy Jason Greenblatt said, “In recent days, we have seen our regional partners Oman, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates making declarations and moves to signal warmer relations with Israel. A stable region will lead to a stronger and more prosperous region. This is good for everyone.”
