JNS.org – A UK Labour Party member who suggested that Jewish news outlets worked with the Mossad has been reinstated into the party this week with a warning.
“Ms. Lockhart’s suspension has been lifted following the conclusion of the investigation and she has been reminded of her future conduct,” said a Scottish Labour spokesperson.
“The Labour Party takes all complaints of antisemitism extremely seriously and we are committed to challenging and campaigning against it in all its forms,” added the spokesperson. “All complaints about antisemitism are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures and any appropriate disciplinary action is taken.”
Mary Bain Lockhart, a Fife councilor, wrote the accusation on Facebook last year after Britain’s three Jewish papers published an editorial, saying “Enough is Enough” over the Labour’s antisemitism problem.
“If the purpose is to generate opposition to antisemitism, it has backfired spectacularly,” she wrote in a now-deleted post. “(I)f it is to get rid of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour Leader, it is unlikely to succeed, and is a shameless piece of cynical opportunism.”
“And if it is a Mossad assisted campaign to prevent the election of a Labour Government pledged to recognize Palestine as a State, it is unacceptable interference in the democracy of Britain,” she continued.
“Israel is a racist State,” she added. “And since the Palestinians are also Semites, it is an antisemitic State. It is time we stopped propitiating.”
