Israeli Transit App Moovit Launches Real-Time Public Transport Tracking System

CNet – Israel-based public transit app developer Moovit App Global Ltd. has launched its new, real-time vehicle location tracking system, the company announced Tuesday.
Called TimePro, the cloud-based system provides transportation companies with location information for all their running vehicles. The information is received through a bus driver app, which runs on any smartphone or tablet that the driver carries on the bus, and constantly transmits the vehicle’s location to Moovit’s servers.
Founded in 2012 and based in central Israel, Moovit offers its free mobile public transportation navigation app in 2,700 cities across 86 countries.
The company has raised approximately $132 million to date, according to Pitchbook data. Investors in the company include actor Ashton Kutcher and BMW iVentures.
